This one is a short work week, and with all the holiday cooking and prepping, I do not see a chance for me to write any thoughtful d’var Torah. I have decided to leave you with the words of my colleague, Dr. Ackerman, again, as I don’t think I can say anything better.
The only thing I’d like to point out is this verse:
ט כִּי חֵלֶק יְהוָה, עַמּוֹ:יַעֲקֹב, חֶבֶל נַחֲלָתוֹ. | 9 For the portion of the LORD is His people, Jacob the lot of His inheritance. |
As much as our Parshah is predicting all the horrible events in case we stray (and, boy do we!), this is the statement of our eternal connection to Gd – both in good and bad times.
